This CD is the culmination of a decade-long project to index the St. Louis Death Registers, deaths recorded in the City and County of St. Louis from 1850–1908. Prior to 1876, there was no separate index for St. Louis County; after that date, the county split from the city, so deaths in the county after 1876 are not in this index. The state of Missouri began to require state-wide recording of deaths in 1910. Death data from 1908 to 1910 is currently not microfilmed and may or may not exist. Once you find a person in this index, you can go to the microfilms of the death register, found at many libraries and at StLGS, to get more information on your ancestor. The CD is compatible with both Macs and PCs. Information from this CD is also available in the Members Only area of the StLGS website.
