Who’s Who in North St. Louis was published by the North St. Louis Business Men's Association in 1925 to celebrate their thirtieth anniversary. The North St. Louis Business Men's Association was established as an “auxiliary in the educational and scientific development of public and business affairs in North St. Louis.” Begun as a small group of dry goods store owners who wanted their shops closed early on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, the association grew over the years into a strong group of business men and women, predominantly German-American, representing wealth, power, and success in this bustling area of the city. The northern part of St. Louis was home to lovely homes and thriving businesses, both large and small. Some neighborhoods in this once-bustling area have today fallen into disrepair and do not reflect the industry that made this an attractive place for growth. Books such as this one, filled with photos and biographies of the hard-working proprietors, reveal a part of our city’s heritage that is now gone. Although this book is available in local libraries, it has long been out of print. Now you can perhaps find an ancestor or two in the comfort of your own home. Fully indexed and more than 350 pages long, the disc contains PDF files that can be saved or printed for your own personal use. The CD is completely indexed and searchable. It is Macintosh and PC compatible. Each digitized page is an exact copy of each page in the original book. Pages can be enlarged, reduced, copied, saved, and printed!
